Jason Babichuk

Owner & Chief Executive Officer

As the Owner of Eng-Con since 2009, Jason has been the driving force behind the company’s strategic vision and performance, guiding it through sustained growth and success. With over 25 years of progressive and extensive experience in the Land Development industry, Jason has cultivated a reputation for excellence, integrity, and leadership. His dedication to quality and innovation has established Eng-Con as a trusted name in the industry, recognized for delivering exceptional results.

Chris Porter, CPA, CA

President

As a member of the executive team, Chris is responsible for aiding in the development and implementation of the overall strategy for EngCon. Chris is a seasoned leader with over 13 years of executive leadership in various industries with multinational large-scale organizations. He holds a Bachelor of Commerce (With Distinction) from the University of Alberta, along with a CPA, CA designation and membership from the Chartered Professional Accountants of Canada. With his unique background, Chris has an innate ability to bridge the operational and financial needs of the organization to ensure success for both EngCon and our project partners.

Mike Fitka, C.E.T.

General Manager

With over 30 years of extensive and diverse civil construction experience, Mike has specialized in the land development industry, holding various roles from design and drafting to surveying and supply chain management. His deep expertise in product application and project execution has sharpened his leadership abilities, allowing him to guide teams through complex projects efficiently.

Having worked in large organizations, Mike has demonstrated a keen ability to manage and build effective teams in a variety of challenging environments. His strategic planning and decision-making skills have consistently ensured successful project outcomes. Mike’s strength in negotiation and ability to create win-win scenarios is complemented by his excellent interpersonal skills, which enable him to foster strong relationships with clients, stakeholders, and team members alike.

In addition to his professional experience, Mike holds a Civil Engineering Technology Diploma from NAIT, further solidifying his technical foundation. His proven problem-solving capabilities, combined with his broad expertise, make him a highly effective leader in managing daily operations at Eng-Con Holdings.

Justin Ventura

Director, URD

Justin Ventura serves as the Director for URD for the Ventura Power and Gas group, a leading firm in Underground Residential Distribution (URD) construction. With a wealth of experience that spans over 20 years in the construction industry, he has successfully managed over 900 projects, demonstrating a profound commitment to quality, excellence, and relationship building.

Justin leverages his extensive background in project scheduling and resource management to ensure the seamless execution of projects from inception to completion. He excels in coordinating complex timelines and optimizing resource allocation, fostering an environment that encourages efficiency and productivity.

Justin is dedicated to delivering exceptional customer service and ensuring client satisfaction at every stage of the project lifecycle. With a deep understanding of the importance of building strong relationships, he prioritizes open communication and active listening to truly grasp clients’ needs and expectations. He commitment to exceeding client expectations is evident in his proactive approach, which includes regular updates, prompt responses to inquiries, and a willingness to adapt to changing requirements. By fostering a customer-centric culture within the organization, Justin ensures that each team member shares the same commitment to quality service, ultimately driving client loyalty and satisfaction. Blain Bourdages

Director, Business Development

With over 15 years of experience in the underground construction industry, Blain has developed extensive expertise in directional drilling, pipelines, utility construction, and mechanical services.  His career journey has also fostered a strong foundation in business ownership, management, and strategic development.

Known for leading diverse teams, driving business growth, and promoting mentorship and self-improvement, [Name] currently serves as the Director of Business Development at Eng-Con Holdings & Ventura Power and Gas.  In this role, he focuses on identifying new opportunities, building strategic partnerships, and expanding service offerings in the power and gas sectors.

Previously, Blain managed Underground Residential Distribution (URD) projects, overseeing large-scale land development initiatives. Blain’s leadership ensured the successful completion of these projects while upholding the highest standards of safety and quality.

Entrepreneurship is a key element of Blain’s professional journey.   He founded Ironman Directional Boring*, growing the company from a single rig to a fleet of 15 rigs and managing a team of 50 employees before successfully selling the business in 2023.  In addition, he owns Unlimited Automotive & Performance LTD, a shop specializing in fleet vehicle repairs and classic car restoration.

Through a commitment to innovation, growth, and operational excellence, Blain continues to build lasting value in every project and business venture he undertakes.

Crystal Olech

Controller

Crystal is the Corporate Controller here at EngCon and is responsible for the accounting operations of the company. She brings to EngCon over 30 years of full-cycle accounting experience with emphasis placed on cost accounting. Crystal mainly focused her career path in the construction and manufacturing sectors.

Tarren Smallwood

Project Accountant

As Project Accountant, Tarren assists the Corporate Controller with financial statement preparation, payroll and other accounting operations. Tarren performs various functions to support the project management team as well. Tarren holds a Bachelor of Commerce, majoring in accounting, from MacEwan University.

Jason Iverson

Project Manager, Maintenance

Jason is responsible for the maintenance project division of EngCon. Jason is an industry leader with over 25 years of water and sewer industry experience. Jason’s primary responsibility is the CCC and FAC coordination for the organization along with coordination and project execution of our maintenance projects.

Joel Bernard, NCSO

Manager, HSE Operations

As the Health, Safety, Environment and Human Resources Manager, Joel is responsible for the administration and implementation of the Safety and Human Resources programs. Joel is a Certified Alberta Safety Auditor and holds his Officer National Construction Safety Officer (NCSO) designation along with a marketing and management diploma from NAIT. Joel has held various positions within EngCon since 2011.

Ryan Brown

Construction Manager

As Construction Manager, Ryan oversees the construction process at EngCon from inception to completion. With over 30 years of civil construction experience, Ryan bring a unique and diverse perspective to each project. His collaborative approach to construction and team-oriented leadership style have been key pillars of his success.

Brian Amyotte

Superintendent

Brian has over 18 years of water and sewer experience with EngCon, with eight of those years as a Foreman. As an equipment operator by trade, Brian has the technical knowledge and experience to ensure exceptional results on any project. As a Superintendent, his responsibility is the field execution of projects, which includes coordination of equipment, materials, and labour. Furthermore, Brian ensures all projects are completed safely, on schedule, within budget and in accordance with municipal standards and engineered drawings.
