PROJECT MANAGER

Position Summary

Reporting to the General Manager, the Project Manager, is responsible for planning and overseeing projects within the organization, from the initial review through to completion. The Project Manager will prepare proposals, including construction methodology, cost estimates, and schedules. They will review the Project Coordinator/Estimator’s preparations of tendered projects as well as review/approve the tender submissions.

 

Key Responsibilities

  • Ensure Health and Safety is the number one goal by following policies, processes, and acting in a safe manner at all times.
  • Serve as the point of contact for and provide ownership of all activities and functions that impact the assigned projects’ financial, personnel, quality control, schedule, and safety performance.
  • Complete updates and reports for internal and external stakeholders related to project performance, schedules, and changes and/or challenges on assigned projects as deemed appropriate for the given project.
  • Act as a continuous client contact by developing customer relationships and an understanding of customer needs. Ensure these customer needs are addressed.
  • Problem solve with field execution leaders to ensure barriers are identified ahead of time and addressed prior to field execution.
  • Manage and schedule all subcontractors, equipment, labour, and material required for the projects.
  • Prepare proposals, including cost estimates, methodologies, and schedules.
  • Monitor and manage project progress, including preparation of monthly progress claims, change orders and/or force accounts.
  • Identify and implement process enhancements to optimize project delivery and increase client value.
  • Attend external project meetings and lead internal project meetings.
  • Identify and address any conflicts amongst project stakeholders.
  • Provide coaching and mentorship to junior project team members, as required.
  • Maintain professional and technical knowledge requirements.
  • Adhere to all company policies, procedures, and industry standards.

 

Skills, Abilities & Attributes

  • Excellent knowledge of construction operations and equipment.
  • In-depth knowledge of construction procedures, equipment, and OH&S guidelines.
  • Ability to read drawings, plans and blueprints.
  • Excellent organizational and time management skills.
  • Proven leadership skills.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Demonstrated critical-thinking and problem-solving abilities.

 

Education & Experience

  • E.T or P.Eng. required.
  • Any additional relevant certification will be considered an asset.
  • 5-10 years experience in Project Management.
